Harrogate Choral Society are delighted that international award winning pianist Alessandro Taverna will open the concert with Beethoven’s Sonata No 13 In E flat. Alessandro was in 2009 awarded 2nd Prize in the London International Piano Competition; 1st Prize at the Minnesota International Piano Competition and 3rd Prize and Bronze Medal at the Leeds International Piano Competition. BackBeat Percussion, the award winning British Percussion quartet featuring Simone Rebello, and Scunthorpe Junior Co-operative Choir, winners of the 2008 BBC Radio 3 Choir of the year, join the choir and pianists Beryl Pankhurst, well known in Harrogate and the Choral Society’s own accompanist, and Alessandro Taverna to perform Carl Orff’s magnificent piece Carmina Burana. Soloists for the concert are Debra Morley, Soprano; John Dunford, Tenor; and Robert Coulton, Bass. Tickets are £20, £18 & £16 with £1 off for OAP, unemployed and students, half price for under 16s and free for under 6s
